# Work with chats

> Find a fan conversation, review its context, and send a reply from the desktop app.

## Open a conversation

1. Select the creator you want to work with.
2. Open **Chats**.
3. Choose a conversation from the list. Use the available search or filters to find the fan you need.
4. Read the recent messages and any available fan notes before replying.

## Send a reply

Write your reply in the message composer. Check the creator, recipient, message, and attachments, then send.

For a paid message, review the price and included media before sending. If you do not have permission to perform an action, ask your manager to review your access.

## Use media

Use the media picker available in the composer to select content. Confirm it belongs to the selected creator and matches what the fan asked for. See [vault basics](/desktop-app/vault).

## Work alongside agents

If your workspace uses agents, check their status before joining a conversation. Coordinate with your team when deciding whether a conversation should be handled manually or by an agent. Use the controls available in your app version to manage that ownership.

## If messages stop loading or sending

Check the creator's connection and your internet connection. Follow [connection troubleshooting](/troubleshooting/connection). If a send reports an error, check the conversation before retrying so you do not send the same message twice.
