# Mass messages

> Send one message to a chosen audience when you press Send, add follow-ups, or message everyone online.

A mass message is a send you press, not a rule that runs. It goes out once, when you press **Send**, and never again on its own. That is why mass messages are on **Actions** and not on the **Automations** screen. Each one is still limited by the same plans as automations: on a plan without them, **Actions** shows how each send works and asks you to upgrade.

**Actions** has three sends. Choose one on the left, read **How it works**, then press its button.

| Send | What it does | Button |
| - | - | - |
| **New mass message** | One campaign to the lists or fans you pick, with optional follow-ups. | **Write and send** |
| **Message everyone online** | One broadcast to every fan who is online right now. | **Set up and send** |
| **Split mass message** | One PPV blast, priced per fan by what he has spent and how recently he bought. | **Set up and send** |

Each send has a **How it works** tab and a **History** tab. The **Mass Messages** screen lists every campaign under **Campaigns**, with how many were sent, viewed and bought.

## New mass message

**1. Write the message**

Write it in **Message**. Add media from the vault or from your computer, an emoji or a GIF. Set a **PPV price** to make it paid. A price with no media sends a paid text only if you tick **Lock text behind paywall**. With media and a price, each item shows a **Free** / **Locked** button: click it to choose which items he can see before he pays. Everything starts locked. Only items from the vault can be free; a file uploaded from your computer stays locked.

**2. Choose who gets it**

Pick one or more lists under **Audience**, and add fans under **Specific fans**. It is never sent to everyone by default. Pick at least one list or fan. To keep some of them out of this message, use **Leave out**. See [leave out](#leave-out).

**3. Add follow-ups, if you want them**

Under **Follow-ups**, press **+ Add follow-up**. See below.

**4. Send or schedule**

Press **Send**, or set **Schedule** first and press **Schedule**. Scheduling hands the send to OnlyFans for that time.

### Who is left out

* Fans on the No Mass DM list. Always. A fan lands on it when you switch on **Exclude from all mass messages** in his chat.
* Fans who have not answered her last three messages in a row. Always, whoever sent them. See [how AI Chat works](https://docs.onlystack.com/agents/overview.md).
* Fans in an ongoing chat, when **Skip fans in ongoing chats** is ticked, which it is by default. It leaves out every fan who messaged you in the last 12 hours.
* Anyone you choose under **Leave out**, for this message only.

If every fan you picked is left out, nothing is sent and the app says so.

### Follow-ups

A follow-up is another message to the fans who ignored the one before. Add up to five. Each says **Message 2**, **Message 3** and so on, with how many hours after the one before it goes out: between 1 and 23. A follow-up can carry vault media and a **PPV price**, and has its own **Remove** button.

When a follow-up is due, every fan who replied to the message before it, or bought it, drops out. A fan who ignored it gets this one too. The messages before it stay in his chat. Follow-ups take vault media only, because a file uploaded from your computer cannot be attached again hours later.

If the first message goes out but the follow-ups cannot start, the app says so, and **Retry** starts only the follow-ups. It does not send the first message twice.

### What it never does

* It never unsends a message. If you want one taken back, open it under **Campaigns** and delete it yourself.
* It never sends on a timer. It goes when you press **Send**, or at the time you set under **Schedule**.

## Message everyone online

One broadcast to every fan online when you press send, using an opener for the current time of day. Nothing repeats on its own.

**1. Write your openers**

Press **Set up and send**. **Slot pools (time-of-day openers)** has a box for each part of the day. Write one opener per line, and one is picked at random. `{name}` becomes "babe", because it is one message to many fans. See [online nudges](https://docs.onlystack.com/automations/online-nudges.md) for the slots.

**2. Choose who is left out**

Set the settings below. They are saved each time you send, so the next press starts from what you used last. To keep fans out of this send only, use **Leave out**, which is not saved. See [leave out](#leave-out).

**3. Test, then send**

**Test, send nothing** shows who it would reach and what it would say, and sends nothing. **Send now** asks you to confirm, then sends one message to everyone online right now.

| Setting | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Slot pools (time-of-day openers)** | The messages to pick from for each part of the day. If there is none for the current slot, nothing is sent. |
| **Attach per-slot image (falls back to text if none)** | Sends the photo set for this time of day along with the text. If no photo is set, it sends the text alone. A free message whose media is explicit or not yet scanned is locked behind a price instead of going out free. |
| **Skip messaged within (hrs)** | Skips fans who were sent a message within this many hours, so nobody gets two in a row. |
| **Your time zone (UTC offset)** | Hours your clock is ahead of UTC, or behind it as a minus number, so morning and evening openers go out in your morning and evening. |
| **Hold the chat for (hrs)** | After it sends a fan a message, other automations leave his chat alone for this many hours, unless he replies. 0 means no hold. |

### What it never does

* It never sends when nobody is online. The run says none of your fans were online.
* It never messages the fans it leaves out. That covers recently messaged fans, anyone you leave out, the No Mass DM list, fans who wrote to you recently, and a new fan before his welcome.
* It never messages a fan who has not answered her last three messages in a row.
* It never writes anything itself. No AI is involved.

## Split mass message

One PPV blast where each fan's price depends on his segment: what he has spent in total, times how recently he bought. Press **Set up and send**.

* **The message he receives** is one caption for every segment. `{price}` fills in his own price, `{was}` a higher "was" price the message shows beside it, and `{off}` the discount he is getting.
* **Base price, scaled per segment** is the starting price. Each fan's price is it multiplied by his spend band and his recency band. The optional send to your lists charges this price, kept between **Lowest** and **Highest**. Open **Pricing matrix** to change the multipliers, and **Never price outside** to set the **Lowest** and **Highest** price any fan is charged. OnlyFans refuses anything under $3 or over $200.
* Attach the vault media to lock behind the price. Each item shows a **Free** / **Locked** button: click it to let fans see that item before they pay. Everything starts locked.
* **Then send at base price to** optionally finishes with one send to your **Fans** and **Following** lists. Everyone already handled is left out, so nobody gets it twice.
* **Skip if messaged within** and **Skip if he DM’d within** leave out fans an automation or agent messaged, or who wrote to you, in that many hours. 0 turns each off.

Fans who already own the media are skipped, and so are blocked and restricted fans, fans on the No Mass DM list, fans who have not answered her last three messages in a row, and anyone you leave out. **Preview segments** shows how many fans land in each segment and at what price, and how many you left out. **Send once** asks you to confirm, then sends.

## Leave out

All three sends have a **Leave out** section. What you pick there applies to the message you are sending now and is not remembered for the next one. To keep a fan out of every mass message, switch on **Exclude from all mass messages** in his chat, which puts him on the No Mass DM list.

| Part | What it leaves out |
| - | - |
| **Spending groups** | Every fan in a group, by what he has spent in total. Click a group to leave it out. |
| **Lists** | Everyone on the lists you pick. Only her own lists are offered. |
| **Fans** | Fans you pick by name. **Choose fans** opens every fan OnlyStack knows, from a chat or a subscription, highest spend first, with a search box and each fan's group beside his name. |

**New mass message** and **Message everyone online** use these groups:

| Group | Spent |
| - | - |
| **Whale** | \$500 or more |
| **Spender** | $100 to $499 |
| **Fan** | $1 to $99 |
| **Never spent** | never paid anything |

**Split mass message** uses its own price groups instead, the same ones it prices by: **Whale** ($100+ lifetime), **Mid** ($25 to $100), **Low** (under $25) and **Never spent**.

A few limits:

* A spending group can only be left out of a send to **Fans** or to lists she made. If you send to another list, such as **Following**, the app asks you to take that list out or untick the group.
* On **Split mass message**, a spending group cannot be left out of the send to **Following** under **Then send at base price to**. The screen warns you before you send.
* On a send to **Fans**, leaving out a spending group needs OnlyStack to have finished reading her subscribers. Until then the app asks you to try again in a few minutes, or untick the group.
* Fans on a list you leave out are skipped when it sends, so a Split segment can reach fewer fans than its preview shows.
