# Set up your first automation

> Choose an automation, review its settings, and turn it on for the right creator.

An automation performs a configured task when its trigger runs. Start with one task you can clearly review, such as a welcome message, rather than enabling several rules at once.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose the creator">
    Select the creator in the desktop app, then open **Automations**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the task">
    Open an automation available to your workspace. Read its description to understand what triggers it and what it does.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure the behavior">
    Enter the message or content required by that automation. Review the audience, timing, price, repeat settings, and limits that are shown.

    For a welcome message, check whether an existing OnlyFans welcome message or another tool is already doing the same job.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save and enable">
    Save the configuration, then use the automation's enable control when you are ready for it to act on the creator account.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review activity">
    Check the activity or run details shown for the automation. Confirm the result matches the task you configured before adding more rules.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  Enabled automations can send messages or publish content for the creator. Review the creator, audience, text, media, and price before enabling one.
</Warning>

## Change or stop an automation

Open the automation to change its configuration. Disable it if you want it to stop running. Review recent activity before retrying a task that reported an error.

## If it does not run

Check that the creator is connected, the automation is enabled, and its trigger has occurred. Read the run status for limits or configuration errors. Features that write with AI also need [AI credits](/billing/plans-and-credits).
