# Engagement Agent

> Writes first to fans who went quiet and to fans who just came online, one short message each.

The Engagement Agent does not wait for a fan to write. It goes after the fans who went quiet and the fans who just came online, with one short, warm message each, built on something real it knows about him.

## What it does

* **Goes through the subscribers it can win back.** Fans who paid come first, the biggest spenders at the top, then fans who never paid, even when there is no chat with them yet. It skips anyone with an open offer or walking a script, and anyone OnlyFans says she cannot message, such as a deleted account.
* **Writes each nudge fresh.** One short line, the way she texts from her phone, in the language she writes to him in. It is about him, built on one concrete thing: his own words, what he told her, or something he bought. A fan with nothing usable known gets one light question to get to know him.
* **Says one thing when that is what fits.** These nudges say one thing and nothing else:
  * a fan nobody has written to yet gets a hello that asks his name, the way the Learning Agent starts, unless he already gave it or you unticked his name under **What should she learn about fans?**;
  * after a week or more since he last wrote, she says it has been a while, and may say she missed him;
  * when he never answered the last message she started herself, she says she is sad he is ignoring her, and after more than one, that she is still waiting, never as a number and never angry. A fan who went quiet upset is not told this: he gets the gentle nudge below.
* **Reads how he went quiet.** If his last words were heavy news, he was unhappy with a purchase or he said he was done, the nudge is gentle, never bouncy, and never pokes at what upset him. After a long gap the old chat is over and so is its mood.
* **Picks a good hour.** It writes in one of the hours he is usually around, while she is awake and outside a [chatter shift](https://docs.onlystack.com/agents/configuration.md#chatter-shifts).
* **Never stacks on an unopened chat.** It does not write while her last message to him is still unopened, and it tries him again later.
* **Checks every draft** for repeats of what he already got, for contradicting her day, for banned words and for anything that points him off OnlyFans. A draft that fails is written once more, and if it still fails nothing is sent and he is tried again next time.

## When it steps in and steps aside

It steps aside when a person holds the chat, when he is blocked or opted out, when it is her sleep time or a [chatter shift](https://docs.onlystack.com/agents/configuration.md#chatter-shifts), or when he wrote recently: he is in a live chat, so the other agents have him. It also stops once he has not answered her last three messages in a row, the same as every agent, with one exception: the online nudge below.

The **Follow up with quiet fans** automation does the same job with messages you wrote, and stands aside while AI Chat is on, so a fan never gets both. See [automations](https://docs.onlystack.com/automations/overview.md).

## The online nudge

When the online check sees a fan come online, the Engagement Agent can write him one message while he is online right now. It says his name and that he is online, nothing else. The message is taken back, which is the one message an agent ever unsends, if he does not answer within the minutes you set. It stays if he answers, tips or buys, or if anyone writes in his chat after it.

Because it does not stay in his chat, it may go even when he has not answered her last messages or opened her last one. Everything else still holds: AI Chat on, blocked and opted-out fans, a chat held by a person, her sleep time and chatter shifts, and the safety checks. It is written only if he was seen online in the last few minutes, and never while an earlier one to him is still waiting for his answer.

## Settings

Pick the **Engagement Agent** on the **Agents** screen. Its settings show beside the list, in one section: **Win-back**.

* **Runs every**: how often it starts looking for fans who are due a nudge. Each time, it reaches every fan who is due, even if that takes a few rounds in a row.
* **Skip if messaged within**: she leaves a fan alone if anyone, including a mass message, has messaged him this recently. The online nudge ignores it.
* **Test run only, nothing is sent to fans**: counts who would get a nudge without writing or sending anything. Leave it off for the agent to actually message fans. While it is ticked, the screen warns you that no real messages go out.

Under **When he comes online**:

* **Message him the moment he comes online, and take it back if he doesn't answer**: on by default. Untick it for ordinary nudges under the ordinary rules only.
* **Take it back after**: if he has not written, tipped or bought by then, the message is unsent. It shows while the box above is ticked.
* **At most once every**: how many hours between two online nudges to the same fan. 0 means every time he comes online. It shows while the box above is ticked.

Under **Buyer roster**:

* **Days between two nudges**: she leaves a fan alone this long after she, or her last nudge, wrote to him. Raise it to nudge less often.
* **Skip a fan who wrote within**: a fan who wrote this recently is in a live chat and another agent has him, so she does not nudge him.

The grey text in each box is the built-in value. **Skip if messaged within** must be filled in before **Save** works. **Fill in all defaults** types the built-in value into every blank box.
